How a passion was born
It has been a long time since I dreamed of giving a different direction to my web graphic designer business, I wanted to be able to give more vent to my creativity. And so, like when you think intensely about something, sooner or later it happens … and when you least expect it!! I was at the airport, waiting to board, returning from a short visit to my parents in Sardinia, a breath of fresh air after the first long lockdown.
On facebook I see an advertisement for a webinar on surface pattern design, I instinctively sign up immediately, I usually distrust everything, even my shadow !!! At the end of July I started following this mini course to learn how to create patterns with Adobe Illustrator and immediately I became passionate about this branch of design which in Italy is practically unknown, but which abroad, especially in the USA, is a rather popular profession.
So I started following other courses, video lessons, insights on the various types of patterns, all the tricks to create repeated motifs without interruption to be applied on all imaginable surfaces: fabric, paper, plastic, ceramic, glass, wood, metal.
After many years of complete inactivity, I started painting again, making watercolors to use as a starting point for my tables. Later I discovered that even with Photoshop you can create beautiful patterns and without affecting the appearance of the watercolor in the least.
I studied a lot and after three months I made my first collection. I was fully satisfied with the work I was doing day after day.
But the greatest emotion was seeing my models printed on fabrics, paper, on objects and thus understanding that the dream was becoming reality.
I discovered that there are many platforms on which you can upload your designs and print on fabrics of all kinds, on wallpaper and on many items, from housewares, stationery, clothing and leisure products.
In short, I discovered a whole world behind surface pattern design that offers designers the opportunity to work with their creativity.
